Career Enchancement Fund: Michigan Series of Speakers, Seminars, and Workshops
This series, connecting students with the wisdom of top- rate professionals, would be both a public service of student publications and a learning opportunity for aspiring journalists. As a 1973 alumnus commented, "I would... argue that exciting media efforts need to be better supported with training, inspiration, professional assessment, not censorship or control but especially since there is no journalism school; there IS a need for young journalists to have something to which they might lift their eyes."
The Board for Student Publications, with encouragement from alumni, is currently considering a number of opportunities for bringing experienced journalists and media professionals into the building, where they can mentor young journalists, offer the fruits of their expertise, and extend the long lines of institutional memoryconnect students with their richly complex legacy.
