Entertainment Music NewsThe first annual Groovawolva, a spring festival of music and fun on Palmer field, is set for April 20. The free all-day event will feature hip-hop-acid-jazzers Jazzhole, and another yet unnamed musical act. "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" producer Dan Patterson will be speaking about his cult-classic Comedy Central improv masterpiece, and other speakers and university organizations will be on hand for a good ol' Michigan spring day. Stay tuned for more info.
Everything's not zen for Bush singer/guitarist Gavin Rossdale, who during a taping of MTV's spring break special, cracked his front tooth when he bashed it on his microphone. Sources say he was staring at MTV host and Playboy playmate Jenny McCarthy quite heartily, trying to figure out how much silicone it took, when the terrible accident occurred. Quite unfortunately, the band continued playing. What a trooper. Rossdale will live. Meanwhile, Rossdale appeared on the most recent cover of Rolling Stone, shirtless and in bed. Wow. If only Boy George could see him now. Bush is scheduled to begin recording the follow-up to their multi-platinum debut "Sixteen Stone" next month, with Nirvana's "In Utero" producer Steve Albini. Can we all say "Bush blows"?
And speaking of Nirvana, Saturday is the two-year anniversary of the death of Kurt Cobain. The singer/guitarist/songwriter of the breakthrough grunge band was found in his Seattle home on April 8, 1994, victim of a shotgun blast to the head. Examination of the body revealed he had committed suicide two days earlier. Survived by his lovely wife Courtney Love-Cobain and daughter Francis Bean, Cobain is still dead.
In break up news, En Vogue, BLACKstreet and the Stone Roses have all reportedly called it quits. They all suffered from a new disorder termed "rock'n'roll ego," where band members think they are more talented than they actually are, leave their groups and then fall victims to short lived solo careers.
