A spokesperson for the Ann Arbor Police Department said the official number of arrests made by AAPD was not available yesterday.

Victim fights one mugger; chases 2nd until police intervene

Two AAPD officers patrolling Maynard Street on Saturday stopped two men running out of the Borders Books and Music parking structure.

One of the men claimed he was surrounded by six men who asked him "if he had any weed on him," AAPD reports said.

The victim said the man he was chasing hit him in the face with a closed fist and searched his pockets for money. AAPD reports the victim of the assault then attacked one of the assailants and chased another until AAPD officers intervened.

The suspect was placed under arrest for armed robbery.

3 teens arrested for Saturday night car theft in parking garage

The Maynard Street parking structure was plagued with crime over the weekend.

Later Saturday evening, AAPD officers were called to the scene by a parking attendant.

Three teen-agers were spotted on the fourth floor of the structure looking into parked vehicles.

AAPD officers approached the youths near a Ford Probe with a smashed window. One of the teens was carrying a screwdriver.

The driver of the car later notified AAPD that a radar detector was missing from the vehicle. The detector was recovered from the roof of Scorekeepers, a local sports bar located directly under the fourth floor of the parking garage.

The teens were arrested for destruction of private property.

DPS received a call Friday night that the washers and dryers on the first floor of Mary Markley residence hall had been tipped over.

According to the DPS report, the machines were "tipped upside down and were flooding the room and hall with water."

Damage to the machines, electrical wiring and floor was estimated at $1,000.

DPS has no suspects in the incident.
