    Reaching a `new level of tastelessness'

    TO THE DAILY:

    I'd like to congratulate Jim Lasser on his ascension to a new level of tastelessness ("Sharp as Toast," 2/12/96). It's refreshing to see that there are still some who can laugh at debilitating and fatal illnesses. Those of us who have watched loved ones deteriorate from Alzheimer's disease have a hard time finding it so funny.
