  • Board meets in closed session

A shortened version of the University Board of Regents' monthly meeting was closed to the public yesterday.

The board met with John Forsyth, executive director of University Hospitals, and University General Counsel Elsa Cole.

"There was a legal opinion to discuss," said Regent Andrea Fischer Newman (R-Ann Arbor), who would not comment on the content of the discussion.

The meeting also began late due to a funeral service.

Members of the board attended the service of Peg Molin, the wife of Keith Molin, special assistant to the athletic director.

Peg Molin was the former president of the University's Ann Arbor Alumni Club.

The meeting's late start postponed a discussion on changes to the Athletic Department bylaws. The discussion is now planned for March's meeting.

Yesterday's meeting was also cut short when no one showed up for the public comments session.

The regents will reconvene in the Regents' Room at 9 a.m. today to address the proposed 1996-97 residence hall rates.

The rest of the agenda, which President James Duderstadt said should not last more than two hours, includes discussion of monthly items such as faculty appointments and construction projects.
