Velocity Girl speeds into St. Andrews

DC popsters Velocity Girl return to Michigan, after headlining at the Blind Pig last April in support of its latest effort, "Gilded Stars and Zealous Hearts." With its first release, the band finds itself straying even father from its rawer debut album, "Copacetic," and staying with the classic pop sound of its last album, "Simpatico." In concert, the sweet harmonies between guitarist/vocalist Archie Moore and vocalist Sarah Shannon are highlighted on songs like "Just Like That."

Headlining the show is Seattle's finest pop band, The Posies, who have released "Amazing Disgrace," its first effort since 1993's "Frosting on the Beater," while the band Lucky Me starts off this night of tasty ear candy. Yum.
