Fife to play football for `M'?By Brent McIntoshDaily Sports Editor MILWAUKEE -- Dreisbach's back to pass -- everybody's covered -- he's scrambling -- he's got an open man and he fires deep to the corner of the endzone -- touchdown, Dugan Fife. Touchdown ... Dugan Fife? "He has the athletic ability," said Michigan football coach Lloyd Carr in a spring football press conference Wednesday. "He was an outstanding high school football player and he has the ability to play at this level." Rumors continue to fly that Fife, senior captain of the Michigan basketball team, will join the football team for next season. Fife could conceivably play a year of football while attending graduate school at the University, as NCAA rules allow a player who has competed four years in one sport a single extra year of eligibility for another sport.
