  • AN ACT OF CENSORSHIP

Yesterday, an unidentified group stole more than half of the press run of The Michigan Daily. Thus far, no individuals have come forward to take responsibility for this abhorrent act. The Daily views this as an attempt to censor the free expression of the student newspaper, a right guaranteed under the First Amendment. The Daily has always welcomed student viewpoints and letters on the editorial page and has prided itself as being a forum for diverse opinions. The Department of Public Safety is currently investigating this as a felony, and the Daily will pursue prosecution of this incident. We will explore all other legal options available. We regret that the students have been denied the information the Daily provides.
