A Montgomery County grand jury indicted the players, along with a former player, for their involvement in the Aug. 31 campus attack.
Hilliard Sumner III of New York told police his collarbone was broken in the fight, which began at 2 a.m. in front of Squires Student Center on the campus. Sumner said he was hit, kicked and beaten with a cane.
Sumner, a sprinter, said five other football players broke up the fight.
Angelo Harrison, a second-string flanker, was charged with attempted malicious wounding, a felony, for allegedly hitting Sumner with a cane. He was suspended from the team for the rest of the season.
Edmonds, one of six players charged with misdemeanor assault and battery, was suspended for the season opener against Akron after admitting his involvement in the fight.
Brown, linebackers Michael Hawkes and Tyron Edmond, tight end Sean Sullivan and defensive tackle Nathaniel Williams will be suspended for Saturday's game against East Carolina.
Tailback Greg Melvin, a former member of the team, also was charged with misdemeanor assault and battery.
Sullivan was indicted on a second assault and battery charge for allegedly hitting a friend of Sumner, Jonathan Nelson.
Sumner has refused to say what the fight was about, and none of the accused has talked.
Bruce Bradbery, a Blacksburg police spokesman, said there was a confrontation after the dance.
He said Sumner was trying to escape when caught from behind and beaten.
