Kane hits Borders to promote 'Running the Amazon,' 'Savages'
When writer Joe Kane kicks off a three-week, nine-city book tour in Ann Arbor tonight, he probably won't be too concerned with the rigors of travel. Kane has ventured into places much deeper and darker than American cities and college towns. Tonight, he will tackle tame terrain with a reading at Borders at 7:30.
Seagal, Wayans glimmer in 'Man'
For some bizarre reason, Hollywood continues to churn out the typical mindless action film that usually stars Jean-Claude Van Damme or Steven Seagal. The type is familiar: Contrived plot involving some evil bad guys who are usually either corporate or government, some sort of unbelievably good-looking love interest and a partner or friend who gets either killed or seriously wounded. Steven Sea-gal's new movie, "The Glimmer Man," is no exception to this rule. But despite its typical flaws, the film turns out to be surprisingly entertaining.
