'M' icers splash Waterloo, 8-2
In the tradition of Guelph and York, the University of Waterloo visited Ann Arbor as the Michigan hockey team's first opponent of the season. And like Guelph and York, Waterloo was pounded by the Wolverines.
The Warriors, Canada's second-best college team last season, were overmatched by the Wolverines, 8-2, yesterday night in front of 1,171 at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube.

Technically, last night's game against Waterloo was the first contest for the Michigan hockey team.
Realistically, the Wolverines first game is Saturday at Lake Superior.
Men's tennis gets solid effort at Classic
With the regular season still several months away, the Michigan men's tennis team is trying to figure out exactly how it stacks up against the competition. It began this process with a solid showing over the weekend at the Carolina Classic in Chapel Hill, N.C.

'M' Crew takes 3rd at Head of Ohio Regatta
The Michigan women's crew team competed Saturday in the 10th annual Head of the Ohio Regatta in Pittsburgh.
The Wolverines were entered in four events, all at a distance of 2 1/2 miles: the championship eight, the open pairs, the club eight and the freshmen eight.
Berenzweig back after bad practices
The conversation between Michigan hockey coach Red Berenson and Bubba Berenzweig must have helped.
Berenson pulled Berenzweig aside during practice Monday to voice his opinion of the sophomore's play of late.
