Michigan offense shows signs of improvement

Somewhere amid the rain, somewhere amid the missed chances, somewhere amid the fourth straight game in which Michigan scored 20 points, Scott Dreisbach saw something good. About an hour after the Wolverines slid by Boston College, 20-14, on Saturday, Dreisbach said Michigan's offense was "very close" to being great. And that wasn't just a cocky quarterback talking. That may be a fact.

'M' spikers win stats, lose match

In a quiet moment following his team's five-set loss to No. 12 Notre Dame on Friday night, Michigan women's volleyball coach Greg Giovanazzi looked up from the stat sheet and just shook his head. Words didn't need to be spoken. It was clear what he was thinking.

Women's tennis works out kinks

The Michigan women's tennis team played in its first tournament of the season in the fourth annual William and Mary Invitational this weekend. Included in the tournament were 14 of the top 110 players in the ITA rankings. Five of the nine teams competing placed highly in last spring's final national rankings, led by third-ranked Duke.

'M' soccer boosted by newcomers

Freshman Amber Berendowsky had the distinct honor of being named 1996 Miss Soccer of Michigan in her final high school season. In her brief six-game collegiate career at Michigan, Berendowsky has shown some of the skills that earned her that crown.

Huskers' fans cope with loss

TEMPE, Ariz. - Nebraska football fans who watched the Cornhuskers lose, 19-0, to Arizona State were just as dismayed as the team Saturday night. But after watching the game, Nebraska fans said the 'Huskers were dominated by a better team.
