Legalize it! End misinformation and legalize marijuana

What do you get when you combine aging hippies, troops of Harley bikers, all varieties of college students and a PA system? Take a walk through the Diag tomorrow and you will find yourself amidst an eclectic mob, a peculiar cloud of smoke and the 26th Annual Hash Bash. Though some use the festivities as an excuse to spend the day in a haze, the tradition serves as a strong reminder of America's marijuana criminalization and University students' long tradition of peacefully assembling to protest an outdated law.

Double jeopardy: Reformed offenders have a right to privacy

This week, the state of Michigan's sex offender registry was made public. Legislation reminiscent of New Jersey's "Megan's Law" resulted in the release of the names and crimes of convicted sex offenders - even those who have served their time in the justice system and are considered by the state to be reformed. Many people believe they have the right to know if their neighbor is a past sex offender. However, the law not only violates reformed offenders' basic rights, but makes it even harder for them to re-enter society.

Beer: The muse Plato overlooked

Last eve, my darling friend Jane (of the Pentecostal Church of Love fame) and I ventured to the bar in search of, among other things, a topic for this column. Both my bank of ideas and my gullet were dry, so I sought the source of all my answers in the bottom of a pitcher of Miller Lite ($4 special, hey). Ah, but as we sat sipping the sweet brew, even with our two brilliant heads as opposed to just my deranged one, try as we might, no concepts would come.
