Best Course:
Various Psychology Courses
In a University without required courses, it's no wonder we can't agree on a single favorite. Can you say core curriculum? No, of course you can't, you haven't had enough English classes ... .
Best Blow-Off Course:
"Orgo," or Organic Chemistry 210
Gluttons for punishment, all of you. If a chemistry class is a blow-off, then writing a 40-page term paper is a Sunday afternoon of relaxation.
Best Residence Hall:
West Quad
A winner likely chosen by all the scores of first-year students who didn't get into West Quad because all the upperclassmen filled it to the gills. The old "grass is always greener" mentality.
Best Sports Team:
Michigan Hockey
Victors, not villains.
Best Michigan Athlete:
Brendan Morrison
His Hobey Baker Award and leadership to a national championship last year make up his immeasurable contribution.
Best Library:
The Harlan Hatcher Graduate Library
The eight-story "Tower of Reference Power" full of winding mazes of stacks and private study carrels perfect for delving into research on topics from Athena to Zeus; plus, plenty of cozy cubbies for knockin' boots.

MARK FRIEDMAN/Daily
English Prof. Ralph Williams reads the Bible, one of the works he lectures about.
Best Place to Work Out:
Central Campus Recreation Building (CCRB)
With stairmasters, a swimming pool and sultry sweat, it's where all those students with six-pack abs go to make the rest of us pasty slouches look silly.
Best Campus Tradition:
The Naked Mile
The last day of classes is the designated time when Wolverines drop their pants and run like hell across our fair campus. A day of unbridled joy for graduating seniors, except for those of us who have the misfortune of seeing our chem lab partners in the raw.
Best Cause/Issue/Movement:
Gay rights
College Republicans may try and deface their Diag chalkings, but you can't keep a strong cause down for long.
Best Activist Group:
The Sexual Assault Prevention and Awareness Center (SAPAC)
From "Taking Back the Night" to counseling victims of rape and sexual assault, SAPAC's valuable and bold contributions to the University earn them the moniker of Best Activists.
Best Protest Slogan:
No clear-cut winner here, but an honorable mention goes to the entry, "Burn Fleming Burn."
Best Speaker/Lecturer in Past Year:
Dave Zaber
Yeah. That was cool. Unfortunately, we don't really know who this is or what Mr. Zaber spoke about.
Best Bollinger Look-a-Like:
Slews of varied entries provide no clear winner, but Robert Redford gets our nod. Intelligent, dynamic and commited to student issues, Bollinger is also one fine looking sport.
Best Computing Center:
The Fishbowl in Angell Hall
The Texas of Campus Computing Sites' large warehouse atmosphere opens the possibility for turning Fishbowl site into an after-hours rave.
Best Student Group/Organization:
The Michigan Student Assembly (MSA)
Did the big group stuffs ballots? Maybe, maybe not, but we do know this, more people vote for "Best of Ann Arbor" than vote in MSA elections (ha ha).
Best MSA Member:
Probir Mehta
Only in Ann Arbor would we vote our favorite MSA member right out of office. Olga Savic, who now has his job, was a close second here.
Best Bathroom:
The Michigan Union
Lacking the quiet ambience of Rackham, or the cozy privacy of the Graduate library, or the gentle lights of the Chem Building, the Union bathrooms provide a millieu of hustle and bustle and receives frequent cleanings. It was also recently renovated.
Best Fraternity to Party With:
FIJI
Boy, can these guys put on a party. Live music in a huge residence means multiple levels of fun.
Best Sorority to Party With:
Alpha Xi Delta
With tight shirts and bare midriffs these girls also know how to have a good time.
Ugliest Building:
The LSA Building
"I got an idea!" said the architect, "How about we make it look like a home appliance, and then, we can paint it orange!"
Best Lecture Hall:
Room 1800, Chemistry Building
The biggest lecture hall on campus, where the lecturer has a different zip code than the folks in the back row.
