Suspensions force State frosh to give up redshirt: Spartans' fight for title rests with new goalie

Western Michigan coach Bill Wilkinson must have been salivating at the thought - a Michigan State goal without a goaltender between the pipes. While this may seem to be a far-fetched scenario, it wasn't as unrealistic as one might imagine.

Sweet Lou's sweeter: 3-point parade rewards Bullock with honor

They say one is the loneliest number, but Michigan guard Louis Bullock would probably disagree. Bullock was named Big Ten Player of the Week after averaging 22.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in wins over Penn State and Michigan State. It is the second time this season that Bullock was named Player of the Week, becoming the first player since Gray Grant in 1988 to earn the honor twice in one season.

Sloan works overtime

For some guys, hockey is life. For other guys, hockey is a part of life. Blake Sloan plays hockey for Michigan. But most people know that. It marked the worst shooting performance from the field for the Wolverines this season, who defeated Iowa the week before by shooting a blistering 60.4 percent.

The Connecticut women insist that going undefeated isn't their goal. Maybe that's why they still are. Connecticut, the only unbeaten NCAA Division I team, remained the overwhelming choice for No. 1 Monday in The Associated Press women's basketball poll - the Huskies' seventh straight week on top.

Fire Carr; the answer lies in the stars

A long time ago, in a football stadium not too far away, the Michigan Wolverines staked claim to an empire like none other the universe had ever seen. The offense can attack no longer. And so Lloyd Carr has to go - now.
