Nanooks travel to Bowling Green, upset Falcons, 7-5

BOWLING GREEN (AP) - Cody Bowtell scored four goals and Ian Perkins made 36 saves as Alaska-Fairbanks beat Bowling Green, 7-5, on Saturday.

Bowtell scored a goal in the first period, as the teams skated to a 2-2 tie, and a pair of goals in the second period as the Nanooks (6-18-0 CCHA, 10-20-0 overall) opened a 5-3 lead.

The Falcons (9-11-3, 14-13-3) had cut the lead to 6-5 on third-period goals by Dave Faulkner and Peter Ratchuk.

Western Michigan 3, Ferris State 2

Joel Irving scored on a rebound 3:51 into the third period to break a tie as Western Michigan beat Ferris State, 3-2, on Saturday.

Matt Barnes made 23 saves as Western (9-8-4, 13-12-4) moved into fifth place in the conference.

The Broncos jumped to a 2-0 lead in the first period as Mike Melas scored a pair of goals.

The first came on a power play as he tipped in a pass from Justin Cardwell.

The Bulldogs (7-14-1, 11-19-2) answered with a pair of power-play goals in the second period by Brett Colborne and Todd Steinmetz.

Mike Szkodzinski had 14 saves for Ferris State.

Ohio State 4, Notre Dame 3

Pierre DuFour had a goal and an assist and goalie Ray Aho stopped 23 shots, including a penalty shot in the second period, as Ohio State beat Notre Dame, 4-3, on Saturday.

Aho stopped the penalty shot and saved six more in the final period.

The Buckeyes improved to 7-15-0 in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association, 9-22-0 overall.

Dufour scored the game winner at 7:04 of the third.

Notre Dame (5-16-1, 8-21-1) opened a 2-0 lead at 5:51 of the first on goals by Joe Dusbabek and Andy Jurkowski.
