Community comfort: Neal's proposal puts funds to good use

In a little more than a week, Lee Bollinger will replace Homer Neal as University president. Although Neal's tenure as interim president was brief, no one can accuse him of passively sailing through his six-month administration with little contribution to the University. For his latest effort to establish the President's New Century Fund for Diversity - intended to make the University's overall climate more comfortable for minority students - Neal deserves commendation.

A true statesman: America will miss Tsongas' integrity

A piece of America died Saturday, as former Sen. Paul Tsongas (D-Mass.) lost a long, hard-fought battle with lymphoma, a slow-growing cancer of the lymph system. The 55-year-old Massachusetts native, best known for his front-runner status in the 1992 presidential campaign, will be a sorely missed champion of American politics.
