The price of points: SCUGA could bias admissions
In a few months, applications for admission will start rolling in. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions will place applicants' SAT scores, high school GPAs, extra curricular involvement and other factors into consideration and select the group of students that will become the Class of 2002.

While most of the nation was fixated on Andrew Cunanan's death last week, a truly great man who shaped much of modern law passed away. Last Thursday, former U.S. Supreme Court Justice William Brennan died, leaving behind an enormous legacy of more than 1,300 opinions affecting nearly every aspect of American life.
Take a breather: Drifting pollution compromises state
Clouds of smoke and hazy smog are usual problems in southeast Michigan, especially during the hot summer months. Emissions from automobiles, factories and utility companies contribute to the great clouds of ozone and pollutants that hover over the state.
The procrastinator's adventure of finding a class
Granted, so did everyone else. And I'm sure most students managed to pull it off. I, on the other hand, did not succeed in my efforts to find the perfect class schedule for the beginning of my sophomore year. I found three good classes and got a dummy class for a fourth.
Sensationalism detracts from positive aspects of life
Though it's a little early to start writing history, President Clinton's eight years in office might well be remembered as another Era of Good Feelings. The economy is booming and crime is down; there have been major advances in science, such as the recent Mars landing.
