From staff reports
University students may have the opportunity to experience what it's like to endure an airport emergency.
The Office of University Relations is assisting a major airline in recruiting students to participate in the exercise.
Student volunteers are needed to play the roles of various professionals who would be involved in an airport emergency, including survivors of an air disaster, family members of victims, journalists and attorneys.
Past drills have attracted students who are interested in drama, social work, law, journalism and psychology.
The disaster simulation will take place at Detroit Metropolitan Airport on Tuesday from approximately 2-4 p.m.
Wayne County emergency crews, as well as the American Red Cross and mental health professionals will be participating in the exercise.
The airline has asked that its identity not be revealed so that its employees can experience the drill as it happens.
Students may register with the Office of University Relations at 763-5800.
