Frog Island lineup set

It's never too early to start planning your trip to the 1997 Frog Island festival, on June 20 and 21. This is the show's 15-year anniversary, and it will be a special event. This year's lineup includes Charlie Gabriel's New Orleans Jazz Band, blues great Son Seals, The Dirty Dozen Band, zydeco giant Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band, and jazz pianist Danilo Perez, among numerous others.

The show is brought to you by The Ark and radio station WEMU; it takes place in Frog Island Park, in Ypsilanti's beautiful and historic Depot Town. The show is easily accessible from Ann Arbor: take I-94 to the Huron Street exit (No. 183), go north past 3 lights, turn east onto Cross Street and enter Frog Island Park.

Now here's a special bonus for loyal Daily Arts readers: Advance tickets are only $15 per day (or $25 for both days). Why wait and pay $18 per day at the gate? Tickets are available at the Michigan Union Ticket Office, Schoolkids' Records, Herb David Guitar Studio and PJ's Used Records. You can also order by phone at 763-TKTS. All seating is general admission, so bring your blankets and lawn chairs (but leave the video cameras and bottles at home). For more information, call the 24-hour Frog Island hotline, 313-487-2229. Get ready to sit back and enjoy some beautiful jazz ... and, finally, some beautiful weather.
