Dissent in the ranks: 'U' must maintain evaluative standards
The University's global outreach efforts - through research projects, education and alumni networking - double as marketing campaigns and barometers of public opinion. A few times annually, the national news magazine U.S. News and World Report evaluates these efforts in editions that rank the nation's undergraduate and graduate programs.
Fight the opposition: Clinton must remain committed to choice
New information has invigorated abortion opponents' efforts to ban the anti-abortionist-dubbed "partial birth" abortions. Last week, an abortion rights advocate recanted his previous statements about the frequency of the procedure. With 75 percent of Americans polled opposed to late-term abortions, President Clinton is facing mounting pressure to sign such a ban. Any such move would be disastrous.
