Engineering sophomore Jim Riske, the Victors Party's presidential candidate, said that if elected, he and vice presidential candidate Craig Myles, an Engineering senior, will focus on four main platform points.

Riske said the Victors Party would demand an accounting check on tuition and dorm costs "to make sure money is going to educational purposes."

Riske said that if they found that tuition money was funding questionable expenses, they would ask for the administration's justifications and create measures to stop wasting students' money. He said he suspects a misdirection of students' tuition since the cost of tuition has risen without any notable direct benefits for students.

"It's kind of obvious because the costs keep rising with no apparent reason for it," Riske said.

Riske said another Victors Party key issue is increasing the roughly $90,000 allocated to student groups to $125,000 by removing money from the MSA Operations account, based on the current budget.

"There (is a) tremendous amount of waste," Riske said.

He also said the two officers would work with Briarwood and Showcase theaters to create a student discount for movie tickets.

"It will make a practical difference to students," Riske said.

Myles said they would initiate the Ann Arbor Project Promise, intended to help the community's homeless by providing them with food, clothing, shelter or counseling.

Riske said MSA can work with local and state government, as well as religious and student groups on campus.
