N-I-Take that: Blue bounces Miami with hot second half
After a week of distractions, the best thing about Michigan's win yesterday was that the Wolverines finally got to get back on the court.
A 76-63 win over Miami (Fla.) got the Wolverines to the second round of the NIT, but it also gave Michigan players a chance to put behind them what has been a week of turmoil.

Even though the Wolverines defeated Alaska-Fairbanks by those scores last weekend in the first round of the CCHA playoffs, chances are good that Michigan will be involved in much tighter games for the remainder of the postseason - however far the Wolverines advance.
Colorado takes down Hoosiers
WINSTON-SALEM N.C. (AP) - Chauncey Billups scored 24 points as Colorado handed Indiana an opening-round defeat for the third straight year.
Billups, a second-team All-American, scored 20 points in the first half as Colorado built a 46-31 lead. The Buffaloes (22-9), making their first NCAA appearance in 28 years, went on to beat Indiana (22-11) by 18 points, matching the Hoosier's worst NCAA tournament defeat in 71 games.
Smith NCAAs winningest coach ever
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) - As expected, Dean Smith got his record-tying victory Thursday night. It came in an unexpected way, though.
Smith tied Adolph Rupp as the winningest NCAA coach when North Carolina beat Fairfield, 82-74, in the opening round of the East Regional. But Smith's 876th victory wasn't nearly as easy as everyone predicted.
Cowboys rope Tulane; face Michigan next
STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) - Joe Adkins scored 19 points and Oklahoma State survived a 3-point barrage in the final minutes to defeat Tulane 79-72 in the opening round of the NIT on Thursday night.
Oklahoma State (17-14) led 73-63 with 1:02 to play on Adrian Peterson's two free throws and seemingly had the game in hand.
Morrison named CCHA Player of the Year for 2nd time
DETROIT - Dinner was outstanding for the Michigan hockey team last night.
The food wasn't bad, either.
The evening began and ended with Wolverines on stage at the CCHA Awards Banquet last night at the Crowne Plaza Ponchartrain Hotel in downtown Detroit. Michigan brought home a wealth of hardware from the banquet, including trophies for the regular season championship, Player of the Year Brendan Morrison and Goaltender of the Year Marty Turco.
