In those days, Michigan received sound beatings almost every time it faced the bullies.

Blue crew 'Head'-ing to Boston

Since torrential rains cancelled last year's Head of the Charles Regatta, Michigan's crew team will compete in this storied event for the first time as a varsity program this Sunday in Boston. The Wolverines kicked off their 1997 campaign two weeks ago in fine style by placing second behind Brown at the Head of the Ohio.

Last weekend, the war began in earnest. The battle between two Big Ten powerhouses resulted in one team limping home and the other striding to an impressive victory, which could eventually affect the Rose Bowl race. Penn State won a decisive victory over Ohio State.

Volleyball hosts big weekend

It's a big weekend for the Michigan volleyball team. In its first matches since last weekend's 1-1 road trip, the Wolverines will face No. 1 Penn State Friday and Indiana Saturday at Cliff Keen Arena.
