Michigan rolls to 11 runs in shutout win

The Michigan baseball team did what was expected of it - played a near flawless game against an overmatched Oakland University baseball team. Yesterday, the Wolverines were once again threatened by rain, but never were threatened by Oakland. Michigan (12-15-1) defeated Oakland (4-13) 11-0 behind 14 hits, while allowing only four Pioneer hits.

The hard way

Call them Cardiac Kids. Call it heart-attack hockey. Or just call it exciting. The Michigan hockey season had some of the closest shaves of any team in any season. Michigan could have easily lost any one of the 21 one-goal games this season.

Football champions prepared to meet President Clinton today in Rose Garden

Today, the Michigan Athletic Department will pull off the first half of a trade with the Executive branch of the federal government, sending the Michigan football team to the White House for a visit. In exchange, of course, President Clinton will send the First Lady to Ann Arbor later this month, when she'll deliver a speech on something other than sports.

Tomorrow, the Michigan women's rowing team will continue its overachieving season when it hosts Big Ten rival Iowa. The Wolverines hope that they will be able to duplicate the feat at Belleville Lake, like their win two weekends ago against No. 3 Virginia.
