Students choose diverse variety of music as 'best'

Best Local Band:

Space Cowboys

Word around town is this band is a lot of fun. Space Cowboys grooves it up like nobody's business and sounds even better after a few beers.

Counting Crows performed to an excited and satisfied crowd at Hill Auditorium in the fall.

Best Dance Spot:

Nectarine

There's a night for everyone at Nectarine. For those searching for an alternative to "Grease" megamixes and Tone Loc, try disco night on Wednesdays. For all you ladies out there looking for a night free of ogling and bad pick-up lines, try boys' night every Tuesday and Friday. Just remember it's the Nectarine in Ann Arbor, not NYC's Tangerine.

LOUIS BROWN/Daily
Adam Sandler put on this year's best concert.
Best Concert:

Adam Sandler/Counting Crows (tie)

It's a tie between the obnoxious guy from the East Coast and the white guy with the bad dreads. Maybe Sandler could join up with Counting Crows and they could do a weepy ballad rendition of "Piece of Shit Car."

Best Festival:

Ann Arbor Art Fair

This annual event is the best place to go for great sidewalk sales and even better people-watching activities. Whether you're looking for art or really cheap shoes, Art Fair has something for everyone.

EMILY NATHAN/Daily
The Nectarine is a popular evening entertainment for students.
Best Radio Station:

102.9 WIQB

This station plays all the Matchbox 20, Meredith Brooks and Wallflowers you could ever want. And it plays their songs about 50 times a day. The only difference that I see is, some radio stations are a little more original.

Best Place to Go in an Altered State:

The Arb

If you're careful not to get lost in the cemetery next door or fall into the river, the Arb provides a chill atmosphere and enough privacy to do sneaky things - it's fun day or night. But be sure to bring a blanket, because twigs can stick you in the darndest places.
