Man assaulted with knife on Monroe Street

A man called the Department of Public Safety on Wednesday night to report he was assaulted by a suspicious man on Monroe Street.

The caller said he was hanging signs on Monroe Street when a man approached him.

The man started talking to the caller, who said he initially told the man to leave him alone, reports state.

The subject then pulled a Swiss Army knife out of his pocket and flashed it in front of the caller, saying, "You think this is a joke? I'll show you a joke."

The caller said he left the area and returned to his residence hall, DPS reports state.

The suspect is described as an older man with grey hair who wore a pin on a tan sport coat. DPS officers reported to the scene but were unable to locate the suspect.

A report was filed.

Peeping tom spotted at Northwood

A woman called DPS on Monday evening to report that a "suspicious" person was peeking into the windows of her residence at the Northwood V Apartments.

The caller said that when she saw the man peeking in the windows, she went outside and attempted to chase him, but the man crossed the NW-55 parking lot, DPS reports said.

The woman was unable to catch the man, who was described as a 16-17 year old man, wearing blue and white shorts and a striped T-shirt, DPS reports state.

DPS officers checked the area and were unable to locate the alleged peeper.

A report was filed.

Flower pot catches fire

A man called DPS on Monday afternoon to report a fire outside of the Student Activities Building on Maynard Street.

The caller said large quantities of smoke were coming out of a flowerpot near the front entrance of the SAB.

DPS units responded to the call and later reported that the soil was smoldering.

The officers used a stick to stir up the soil and contents of the large pot. The fire was extinguished a few minutes later.

No damage was reported. A report was filed.

Juveniles attempt to rob apartment

A man called DPS on Wednesday afternoon to report that two young men had attempted to burgle his apartment at the Northwood II complex.

The caller said the two men fled after seeing the caller's wife and did not take anything, reports state.

The method of entry was believed to be through the front door, which was closed but not locked, DPS reports state.

The subjects were described as juveniles wearing T-shirts.

A report was filed.
