The nominations for the 40th Annual Grammy Awards were announced yesterday morning at Radio City Music Hall by a cross-section of contemporary artists, including Lilith Fair alumnus Paula Cole, who led the musical pack with five major nominations for her breakthrough sophomore effort, "This Fire." Artists (above) Wyclef Jean, Diana Krall, Shawn Colvin, Usher Raymond, Cole, Deana Carter and Fiona Apple helped NARAS CEO Michael Greene in presenting the numerous nominees. To be eligible for Grammy nomination, an album or single had to be released between Oct. 1, 1996 and Sept. 30, 1997.
