Wrestling coach Bahr to step down after next season

Dale Bahr has been involved in wrestling for most of his life, but Bahr announced Wednesday that he will resign as Michigan wrestling coach after the 1998-99 season. "I'm not resigning," Bahr said. "I'm sick of people using that word. I'm going to coach for one more year, then work on the summer camps."

Notre Dame, Big Ten in discussions

For years, the Michigan-Notre Dame rivalry has been one of the most heated in all of college football. But starting in the near future, the Wolverines and the Fighting Irish might be playing for more than just bragging rights - they could be battling for the Big Ten title.

Alliance announces ranking system

It's not as if Michigan fans have ever been frustrated after being cheated out of the No. 1 spot in the college football rankings or anything. Wings one win away from second straight Stanley

WASHINGTON (AP) - A second straight Stanley Cup and the making of a dynasty are within sight for the Detroit Red Wings. Yet Sergei Fedorov chose to look to the past Saturday night. Minutes earlier, Fedorov's 10th goal of the playoffs with 4:51 to play gave the Red Wings a 2-1 victory over the Washington Capitals and a 3-0 lead in the Stanley Cup finals.

Sullivan's fall just a pothole on road of life

At first it looked like a dream had fallen to earth, along with Kevin Sullivan. From the gasps of the crowd to the way he walked across the finish, at first, it appeared as though a minor apocalypse had descended upon the track world. Or at least Sullivan's track world.

NHL promising for 'M' icers

On June 27 in Buffalo, N.Y., the boyhood dreams of top young hockey players will be realized. The 1998 NHL draft will feature players from all walks of life - from Europe, Canada and the United States, from both the major junior leagues and colleges across North America.

Blue frontcourt heads to draft

The loss of Robert Traylor, Maceo Baston, Jerod Ward and Travis Conlan will likely have an effect on Michigan's basketball fortunes this season. What effect their departures will have on the NBA is still up for debate. While Conlan isn't regarded as a prospect, there has been a lot of interest in Traylor, Baston and Ward.
