In basketball, they call it "The Big Dance." In almost every other sport, it's the highlight of the season, the culmination of everything the athletes have worked for all season long.
For the Michigan women's swimming and diving team, however, this weekend's NCAA Championships in Minneapolis are just "icing on the cake." The pinnacle of the Wolverines' season was the Big Ten Championships, where they brought home their 12th straight championship trophy, said Michigan coach Jim Richardson.

The recent cold weather and rain may be the only things that can slow down the red hot Michigan softball team. But, more nasty weather is expected for the Boilermaker Classic in West Lafayette this weekend.

The Michigan baseball team just wants to play. Unfortunately, this wish is one that Mother Nature will not grant.
The Wolverines' past two games have both been postponed due to rain. Michigan (5-9-1) was supposed to open its home season against Central Michigan on Tuesday, but that game was re-scheduled for April 18. Yesterday's game against Eastern Michigan will be made up at a date to be determined.

Michigan women's track coach James Henry had better watch out. He might have a jealous distance squad on his hands.
Well, who wouldn't be upset at being left home from this weekend's Jamaica Invitational? Henry will take the sprint crew to compete in the two-day meet, which begins Friday, but the distance runners will stay and train in the not-so-warm climate of Ann Arbor.

Michigan broke the previous record of five straight titles last year, capturing first place in Minneapolis.

Thus, the stage is set for the battle between the veterans and the rookies when Michigan (0-0 Big Ten, 5-3 overall) travels to Columbus on Sunday for its first Big Ten dual match against the unranked Buckeyes (1-1, 3-9).

Things started off well enough for the Michigan women's tennis team this year. The Wolverines won four of their first five matches, with their only loss coming at the hands of No. 12 Tennessee.
Then, trouble hit. The Wolverines traveled to California over spring break and came backwith three losses, all to teams ranked in the top 30 nationally.
