'Grease''s lightning strikes once again

Danny and Sandy make out on the hot sand, waves crashing in the background ... and we sigh with the envy of hopeless romantics. The infamous, rebellious Pink Ladies poke fun at their new friend, super-virgin Sandra Dee, and we smile, remembering the days of our sleepover parties.

Coppereld mesmerizes at the Fox

Ever have the burning desire to see a Broadway show? The lights, the music the singing and dancing all sound so enticing, don't they? Tonight at the Fox, David Copperfield opens his Broadway production, "Dreams and Nightmares," for a three-day, eight-performance run. There might not be any singing or kick-line dance numbers, but the show played to five full weeks of sold out audiences at the Martin Beck Theatre in New York City.

Lucía captures intensity of amenco style

Francisco Goya, one of the greatest Spanish painters of all time, chose to depict typical Andalusian scenes in a few of his early tapestry cartoons. Andalusia is a region of southern Spain, a region that, among other attributes, is known as the so-called birthplace of flamenco music. The rich, colorful attire of the Andalusian women in Goya's works typifies the passionate varying notes of flamenco music and dance, as performed by Spaniards and Gypsies alike.

Sherman laughs it up at Mainstreet

Claudia Sherman, the edgy New Yorker, debuts at the Mainstreet Comedy Showcase this weekend. Although her name may not be as well known as Jerry Seinfeld's, her emotional-witty humor taken from everyday life is sure to keep the audience in laughter.

Students present thesis productions

Two graduate students, Ayako Kato and Ruben Ornelas from the University's Department of Dance, will be presenting their thematically different thesis performances this weekend. The concert will be held at studio A in the Betty Pease Studio Theater (between Stockwell Residence Hall and the CCRB) and consists of modern dances choreographed by Kato and Ornelas who will also be featured in dance solos.

The Articles 'Flip F' Real' in Detroit

Local group The Articles will be opening for industry legends The Skatalites tomorrow evening at The Majestic. The Detroit-based act has emerged on the national scene by playing in a manner resembling the headliners and its American Jazz predecessors.
