Cho packed in parental laughter

Watching Margaret Cho with your parents is kind of like wiping out on a patch of ice in the middle of a crowded street. You're embarrassed, but you just can't help but laugh. Cho had the audience at the Michigan Theater cracking up throughout her performance as part of the Student Alumni Council's Parent's Weekend, and her funniest jokes dealt with off-color topics such as sexual organs, drugs and gay pornography.

Sequentia mysties audience in play

You wouldn't think that a nun who lived more than 800 years ago would have the insight to create a drama whose significance still applies to the struggles that we as human beings encounter today. Hildegard von Bingen, a medieval saint whose play, "Ordo Virtutum," ("Play of Virtues") presents a human struggle against the temptations of sin, does not obey the limitations imposed by the passage of centuries.

Absence hinders Brothers' show

The Assad Brothers' concert this past Thursday evening began with an announcement that Baji Assad would not be performing with her brothers, Sergio and Odair. She had taken ill, and instead the Assad Brothers would give a full guitar recital.

Second time around, 'Summer' slashes itself

"I'm the king of the world!!" Yes, audiences who thought they had heard the last of this immortal line are in for a real treat with the slasher sequel "I Still Know What You Did Last Summer." Stop, Leonardo is not in the movie. This time it's two new characters who playfully call out the line as they throw their arms in the air en route to the Bahamas.

Comedy group returned with biting laughs

This weekend, the Comedy Company brought its game to the Michigan Union. The occasion was its annual fall show - the first of the academic calendar year. The group has made some changes: it features six new cast members and former cast member Erica Hermatz has become the new producer.
