'History' heals wounds of hatred

The saying goes that comedy equals tragedy plus time. Someday, then, we'll all look back and laugh at "American History X," for its detailing of a contemporary culture of hate - white supremacist groups.

Classic '50s 'Grease' bops and bams along

The cast of "Grease" came together this weekend to sing, dance and rock 'n' roll. Audiences in the Power Center had the opportunity to enjoy the talent of their fellow classmates and friends in an atmosphere quite different from the usual academic setting.

'Wedding' celebrates in bloody style

The heat of southern Spain wafted through the Mendelssohn Theater this weekend with the department of theater and drama's production of Spanish playwright Federico Garcia Lorca's "Blood Wedding." The impressive work of set designer Vincent Mountain greeted the audience with an authentic reproduction of a humble, turn-of-the-century dwelling. Dirt-smudged walls and a modest kitchen provided an authentic background for the realism of the first act.

'Tis the season to hit theaters

Swish it around and spit it out. Really, how exciting would it be to drink nothing but water from now until Christmas? After gulping down Adam Sandler's aqua in droves, movie audiences can expect a barrage of high quality movies in the next month and a half.

Thesis show swings

With bodies flowing, feet tapping, and legs leaping, "Reflections" brought an eclectic assortment of performances to the stage at the Betty Pease Studio Theater this past Saturday. This collection was presented as a BFA/BDA thesis concert and was comprised of an artistic and varied batch of creative and interesting pieces.

Gamers skip football, head to Union convention instead

While a fleeting glimpse of the Star Wars universe premiered Friday with the release of "The Phantom Menace" teaser trailer, people envisioned their own aspects of the Star Wars world by playing the "Star Wars" role-playing game, one of a number of events found at this past weekend's 10th annual U-Con gaming convention.
