Beanie Babies, Tickle Me Elmos and Cabbage Patch Kids all sold out of stores - even at high prices.
Michigan hockey tickets have now done the same.

On cold Iowa mornings, a young Jared DeVries would wake up, bleary-eyed and ready to start the day. The sun, still low on the horizon, did not have a chance to warm up the prairie homestead.
"We usually got up at 6 a.m. before leaving for school," DeVries said. "We'd have to do 42 pails of grain and 17 bales of hay a morning."

Clarence Williams has been through a lot in the past few weeks.
He didn't exactly start the season off they way he'd have liked, fumbling away a momentum-turning kick return that eventually yielded a touchdown at Notre Dame.

Michigan men's tennis coach Brian Eisner feels very confident about this year's squad.
Eisner recruited a promising crop of freshman players, including a steal from Florida in Danny McCain. As a high school senior, McCain was too old to participate in the Florida 18-and-under division. Left with no alternative, he competed in the men's division, where he finished ranked second in the state.

There is no place like home for the Michigan women's golf team, which is playing its first and only home match this upcoming weekend. This Saturday and Sunday, the Wolverines will host the annual Wolverine Invitational at the Michigan golf course.

Spectacle of demolition derby excites all kinds
There's nothing like the crunch of chrome on chrome. The spinning of the wheels, the spitting of the dirt, the crashing of the cars - oh, I can remember the scene like it was yesterday.
The Michigan volleyball team will make a road trip this weekend to take on the up-and-coming programs of Northwestern and Indiana. Both are senior-led teams with deep benches. All three teams are trying to break into the top 25 and the upper echelon of the ultra-competitive Big Ten.

If poor play continues to follow the Wolverines' next opponents when they come to Ann Arbor this weekend, the No. 24 Michigan soccer team is in luck. Iowa and Minnesota, the Wolverines' opponents tomorrow and Sunday, respectively, combined for an 0-4 record and scored just one goal between them last week. Not scoring last weekend represented a meager slump for Iowa (0-3 Big Ten, 5-3-1 overall).

The Big Ten has finished its first week of play and Minnesota is still in first place. Wait, the Gophers didn't play last week. Wisconsin and Iowa are also in first, but like every year, neither has played a good team. When they do, they will lose. Purdue is coming off a tough loss at Notre Dame that reminded all Wolverine fans that Michigan is not the only team that blows seemingly un-blowable leads.
Field hockey hits the road, will need 'best game' to win a pair
Have you ever tried so hard, for so long, to defeat a major rival, and then been apprehensive to challenge them again because you knew they were going to come back seething from the defeat?
That's the position the Michigan field hockey team finds itself in this weekend as it travels to Iowa tomorrow and Northwestern on Sunday to begin the road portion of its Big Ten schedule. Last season, the Wolverines swept both teams for the first time in their 25-year history en route to winning the Big Ten championship.
Domination is a word often spoken around campus, usually referring to one of the major sports teams, such as hockey or football.
One team that did not get much word of mouth last year was the men's cross country team, which undoubtedly had one of the finest seasons of any Michigan sports team in recent memory.

During the first two matches of the fall season, the inexperienced Michigan men's golf team knew that it would learn a lot about itself. Entering the season, Michigan coach Jim Carras figured his five-man lineup was going to consist of junior Mike Harris and four other golfers.
