Same old, story: Daily beats State News again

It happened again.

For the second time in as many years, The Michigan Daily beat the State News in a touch football game, handing the Spartans a 91-84 loss at Elbel Field in a marathon game that lasted more than three hours.

History was made at this year's event, when members of the losing squad produced a scrap of paper after the game bearing the words, "Who's your daddy?" The scroll was an apparent reference to former Daily Sports Editor Alan Goldenbach, who infuriated State News players last year by chanting the phrase while running back one of several interceptions. State News players had planned to taunt Daily players with the paper had they won. They didn't win, of course.

Daily staff members said they would frame the scrap of paper, which will become the game's annual Brown Jug-like trophy.
