Suspects attempt to steal pinball machine

Several suspects were seen attempting to steal a pinball machine from Bursley Residence Hall on Thursday, according to Department of Public Safety reports.

Seven vehicles had been in the area near the residence hall prior to the alleged attempt and all but one left the scene.

The remaining car, a sport utility vehicle, was parked in front of the building, apparently waiting for the pinball machine, DPS reports state. When the five to six suspects saw DPS officers they dropped the pinball machine and fled the area heading North on Murfin Boulevard.

A description of the vehicle and the license plate number were provided to DPS officers by witnesses. The owner of the vehicle is a University student, but officers could not locate an Ann Arbor area address for the suspect.

DPS offices stopped a vehicle driving on South University Avenue for driving without headlights Saturday evening, according to DPS reports.

The driver of the vehicle was intoxicated, reports state.

While the officers conducted a field sobriety test, a pipe containing suspected marijuana was observed on the drivers seat, DPS officials reported.

The second subject was then removed from the vehicle, and the vehicle was searched and officers found a bag containing a substance that appeared to be marijuana. While attempting a pat down of a second suspect, the suspect became resistive, and assaulted one of the officers. He was subdued and handcuffed by the officers and was arrested, reports stated.
