Wrestling is arguably the most physically demanding of all collegiate sports, with its participants continuously training at the hardest level just so that they can make weight to compete. Wrestlers go to practice by 6:30 in the morning and go back again after classes at 3.
With the 1999 baseball season off and running, Michigan finds itself below .500, with a mark of 5-6. This is surprising for a talented team that is returning many of its starters of a year ago.
Nonetheless, the team is very aware of the fact that it is a lengthy season and anything can happen.
'M' baseball attempts to break even
Many teams use injuries as an excuse. It can be an excuse for poor performances, or an underachieving team. Injuries have the ability to decimate a team, and ruin a season.
The No. 1 Michigan men's gymnastics team has had an injury riddled season. The team entered its first dual meet with six of 15 gymnasts injured. Five of them were completely out of action, and one - team co-captain Justin Toman - was only able to compete in three events.
