TV: The week that was

What happened on the best shows Wed.-Tues.

"Dawson's Creek": (R) The Flash and the adulterous newscastress agree to disagree and divorce. Dawson whines. Everyone else laments their existence using nothing less than trisyllabic words. We're still waiting for Jen to refer to something as "grody," a word that should be in integral part of every good bad girl's vocabulary.

"90210":Expensive habits die hard for Noah, who feels forced to sell out Nat and the Peach Pit in order to bring in more money from a rich renter. Dylan decides that sitting on his ass being a rich boy is not enough, so he buys Noah's mortgage and saves the beloved diner. Donna and Kelly get into a fight over their clothing store and decide that their friendship comes before their business. David agrees to marry his new-found girlfriend so that she can get a green card. Steve saves the life of a boy who has heart problems and gives all the credit to a leprechaun.

"Friends": Monica, paranoid neurotic disinfecting neat freak that she is, acquires an inordinate fear of thrillessness with the always regular Chandler.

"ER": (R) Dr. Pathological Liar (special guest Mare Winningham) begins her stint in the ER.

"The Simpsons": (R) Does anybody else think that Pinchy and Poochy are related? Dogs and lobsters ....

"X Files": (R) In the conclusion to last week's rerun, Mulder and the Fat Man (not to be confused with "Jake and the Fat Man," or Fat Man and Little Boy) return to their respective bodies and nobody is the wiser.

"Ally McBeal": (R) Well, it's sort of a rerun. David E. Kelley, taking a much deserved rest to play with his muse, wife Michelle Pfeiffer, provides a "best of" clip show. We're not sure exactly how a show can have a "best of" clip show when it's still in the middle of its second season.

"Buffy The Vampire Slayer": (R) Big bad Spike returns to town little more than a three inch nail after being dumped by Drusilla. Xander and Willow don't go out, but they certainly do make out. It's about time.

"Felicity": Pre-empted for the delightfully derivative "Rescue 77." Felicity is flossing.
