Field hockey to host 2000 Big Ten conference tourney

The NCAA runner-up Michigan field hockey team will host the 2000 Big Ten Conference Tournament next season. The tournament, which the team won last year, will take place Nov. 3-5 at Phyllis Ocker Field.

The tournament will start with three first-round games on Friday, Nov. 3. The semifinal games will take place Saturday with the championship game on Sunday.

The winner of the tournament earns an automatic berth to the NCAA tournament.

This season, Indiana added field hockey as a varsity sport, which now gives the Big Ten seven schools with field hockey squads.

All seven will compete in the conference tournament at the end of the season. With the addition of Indiana, the top seed will now earn a first round bye.
