Sears or not, 'M' improves

You won't see this trumpeted on mgoblue.com, but the 1999-'00 year passed without Michigan winning a team national championship. Don't take this as an indication that the Michigan athletic department is on a downward slide. The Wolverines aren't Stanford, which seems to create new sports that no one else participates in just so it can win cheap national championships - synchronized swimming, anyone?
