Field hockey earns honors

The National Field hockey Coaches Association recently announced Michigan's Kelli Gannon as a finalist for the Honda-Broderick Award - which is given annually to the nation's best field hockey player. The other three finalists are Old Dominion's Marina DiGiacomo, Maryland's Carla Tagliente and Penn State's Traci Anselmo.

Gannon - the 2000 Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year - finished her collegiate career ranked with 126 points and 49 goals. Each good enough for second on Michigan's all-time list.

Gannon and senior teammate Courtney Reid were also selected to the Division I All-American first team. Catherine Foreman and freshman April Fronzoni brought home third team All-American honors for the Wolverines.

The four All-Americans along with Kristi Gannon were named to the All-West Region first team. Molly Powers and Jeanne Shin also were also second team selections.
