The call of the Zebra
The three judgements that
made the game
1
Larry Foote:
unsports-manlike penalty
Foote is called for unsportsmanlike conduct for waving his arms toward the crowd, something he says has been done hundreds of times. The call nullified what would have been fourth-and-eight for Illinois.
2
Rockey Harvey:
Is it a fumble?
With 3:53 left and Michigan down 31-28, Harvey collects a screen from Kittner and is sent flipping by Victor Hobson. The fumble looks to be caused by the ground, but the men in stripes say fumble.
3
Anthony Thomas:
Is it a fumble?
Part II
Did he or didn't he? While the replay clearly shows the ball popping loose well before he hits the ground, Thomas is ruled down by the officials. Michigan scores the game-winning touchdown on the next play.
