Michael E. Grass Joins Center for Independent Media

WASHINGTON,
DC — Writer and editor Michael E. Grass has joined the Center for
Independent Media as a network editor. "I look forward to helping the
Center for Independent Media grow as it continues to fulfill its
mission of providing quality journalism in the public interest," Grass
said.
Grass most recently served as Deputy Managing Editor of the
Observer Media Group's Politicker.com, a network of 17 state-focused
politics websites. He is the founding editor of DCist.com and Free
Ride, the local blog of The Washington Post's Express newspaper.
He has written for The Washington Post, Roll Call and Crain's
Detroit Business. Grass was part of The Washington Post Co. team that
conceptualized, planned and launched ReadExpress.com. He served as Web
editor and blogged on a variety of localized topics, including transit,
politics and neighborhood news in Washington, D.C., Maryland and
Virginia.
Grass grew up in East Grand Rapids, Michigan and attended
the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. He worked for The Michigan
Daily and contributed to "Writing Ann Arbor," (University of Michigan
Press, 2005) a literary anthology featuring the work of Arthur Miller,
Joyce Carol Oates, Wendy Wasserstein and other writers who have made
their way through Ann Arbor.
Grass will edit for the Center for Independent Media's
online news organizations, which are based in Minnesota, New Mexico,
Michigan, Colorado, Iowa and Washington, DC.
