Apple 'Genius' by day, freelance photographer for the Associated Press, Tony Ding ('06) is a busy guy. Tony joined The Daily in 2002 as an arts writer, but after photos taken at a Green Day concert impressed the photo editor, he was poached to be a staff photographer and later served as Managing Photo Editor from 2003 to 2005. Since graduating from the College of Engineering in Computer Science, he allocates free time outside of a day job with Apple Inc to freelance photography in Michigan with the Associated Press. Tony has covered every season of Michigan football and basketball for the last decade, and his "sportraits" of athletes from all major sports teams are widely recognized, in addition to special coverage of the auto industry, election, and NYT travel features like "36 Hours in Ann Arbor."
