FALL 2017 Reunion!

Date/Time:
Friday, September 15, 2017 - 1:00pm to Sunday, September 17, 2017 - 2:00pm
Location:
Stanford Lipsey Student Publications Building

Please make plans to join us SEPT 15-17, 2017!

Catch up with former colleagues and meet the current student staff at Student Publications for this special "gathering of the clans," during University of Michigan's Bicentennial year!

The highlight will be two opportunities to hear from more than half a dozen Pulitzer Prize-winners whose careers began at The Michigan Daily: a comprehensive panel discussion at 1pm on Friday, Sept. 15th, in Rackham Auditorium, which is open to the public, as well as "A Night with the Pulitzers" dinner at The Michigan League later that night, open to alumni and students and their guests, by advance tickets only. Featured that day and that evening are Gene Robinson, Ann Marie Lipinski, Stephen Henderson, Amy Harmon, Lisa Pollak, and Dan Biddle, along with journalists who won as part of a team, including Rebecca Blumenstein and Neil Chase! For more information, please see our press release.

The Alumni Planning Committee is hard at work setting up panel discussions for a Sunday morning brunch, along with featured speaker Tony Schwartz (The Art of the Deal co-author of Trump's memoir) and a tribute to Tom Hayden featuring items from his collection of papers, housed at the U-M Labadie Collection of radical materials.

Here's a tentative schedule:

   Friday  Sept. 15th:

1 - 4:30pm             Alumni Panel Discussions at Rackham Auditorium (open to the public, thanks to co-sponsors Wallace House, home of the Knight-Wallace Fellowships for Journalists and the Livingston Awards.)
4:30 - 6:30pm        Happy Hour (drinks and light hors d'oeuvres) at The Daily in the Stanford Lipsey Student Publications Building
7 - 10pm               "A Night with the Pulitzers" Dinner buffet and drinks at The Michigan League ballroom

    Saturday Sept. 16th:

 9am-11:30am  Tailgate Party (Noon kickoff)

    Sunday  Sept. 17th:

10am-2pm   Brunch with keynote speaker Tony Schwartz and panel discussions at The Michigan Union ballroom

Purchase tickets to this weekend full of special events, buy U-M vs. Air Force Football tickets and requests seats with your friends in our block, book a hotel in our hotel blocks (Note hotels are not included in the ticket price; you are responsible for your own lodging) -- or just make plans to join us for the annual, free Happy Hour and Tailgate!   Hope to see you here!

Meanwhile, check out our Alumni Directory to find former colleagues, add your listing to the Directory, or tell us what you've been doing -- we hope to share updates with alumni who are on our mailing list. If you're not on our mailing list and would like to me, please email Lisa Powers, Student Publications' development officer in charge of alumni relations and stewardship (and a proud Daily alum from the summer of '84), or call (734) 418-4115 x 1244.

Please note that a Board Meeting of Student Publications begins at 4pm following the Sunday brunch event, Sept. 17, 2017. Open to the public, in the Board Room of the Stanford Lipsey Student Publications Building, 420 Maynard Street, Ann Arbor, MI 48109.
