Former Gargoyle Editor and Founder of the GargAlums Gargoyle Alumni Association, John Dobbertin, established this fund. Michigan Online Giving
Gargoyle Program Fund
The Gargoyle Program Fund helps the humor magazine to cover the cost of annual projects coordinated by the Gargoyle staff.
Kristoffer Gillette Photography Education Fund
This fund connects Student Publications photo staff members with professional photographers whose work and attitudes mirror standards set by Kristoffer Gillette: care and skill in capturing a strong image, selfless dedication to the quality of The Michigan Daily, and generous, charismatic mentoring of young photographers.
Michiganensian Program Fund
This fund supports Ensian operations, as staffers fight a national trend of yearbooks going out of business. The Ensian staff has been reducing costs and aggressively marketing photo sessions and book sales, ending the past two years in the black. Active alumni support has played a role in the Ensian’s success.
Career Enchancement Fund
With no journalism department at the University of Michigan, the various student publications provide an extraordinary laboratory experience for students to learn the skills needed to write, edit, photograph and sell advertising for newspapers, magazines and other publications. To enhance this experience, we aim to fund workshops or guest lectures to expose the student staff to practicing journalists, photojournalists, publishers, and business staff.
Digital Archive Fund
The Michigan Daily Archive Fund was established in 2004 to finance a project that will create and maintain a digital archive for The Michigan Daily. The Michigan Daily has been published for more than 113 years. Bound volumes and microfilm are available at the Student Publications Building and libraries on the University of Michigan campus. For the last several years, the Daily has provided access to recent issues through its website. Taking advantage of new technology, Student Publications is undertaking a joint venture with the University Library to digitize and make accessible all the issues of the Daily from 1890. This archive will be available on the web for all students, prospective students, staff, faculty, alumni and other researchers to read, study and investigate.
